Lila Jean Saks
Lila Jean Saks loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on the morning of April 3, 2013. Her strong spirit is survived by her husband Bob, daughters Vicki (Mark) and Lisa (Hal), Son Stephen (Gaye), five grandchildren Rachel (Juan), Kayla (Matt), Lizzy, Mathew, and Kody and her great grandchildren Jovi and Kaison. Lila lived her life for her family and friends and she will be dearly missed by all.
Lila was the first of three generations to attend UC Berkeley. She was a tenacious businesswoman and active in politics at the local, state and national level. In 1975 she founded Diversified Personnel, which has been honored with many awards through the years including Top 100 Fastest Growing Woman Owned Company in the Bay Area. During the Carter administration Lila was invited to the White House to be a representative of The National Woman's Caucus.
While she was business savvy Lila was also incredibly philanthropic. She started the Caring Committee at Temple Sinai and was later presented with the Women of Valor award. She was a founding member of the UCSF Cardiac Research foundation and was very involved with the Oakland Rotary.
Later in life some of her best times were enjoyed in the twenty-one years she and Bob spent at Silverado surrounded by dear friends and frequent family visitors. Amongst her family and friends and those who loved her most she was known for being strong, determined, loving and loyal with a zest for life. She will be missed each and everyday, however, her spirit and will, will live on.
