Marian Murphy Obituary

Marian C. Murphy Oct 13, 1953- Feb. 20, 2011 Passed away peacefully at home of natural causes in Oakland California. She was the beloved daughter of the late Stanley J.Murphy and Wilma M. Murphy. She is survived by her brother Brian Murphy of Walnut Creek, CA and her sisters Kay and Elaine Murphy of San Francisco CA, uncle Lloyd and Laura Crone of Old Town ID. and numerous cousins. She was a good friend to Orna and her father Werner, Alma Eversole, Frederico Edwards and many others. Marian was a fourth generation Bay Area native. She received her BA and MSW at San Francisco State University. She worked as a Medical social worker at various Bay Area facilities. In addition she was Chair of Neighborhood Watch, Secretary of Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council in Oakland for many years. Marian was a loyal fan of S.F Giants, the 49ers and a loyal KFOG radio listener. She was a skilled genealogy detective for over 25 years helping many relatives untangle their roots from pre-American Revolution era to the present. She developed friendships and shared information with distant cousins as well. She was a member of the California Genealogical Society. A celebration of her life will be held April, 23rd from 11 to 1 at Lake Merritt Hotel, 1800 Madison Street, Oakland CA for family and friends. At her request Neptune Society of Northern California is handling services for a sea burial. Donations may be made in Marian's name to Alameda County Food Bank or the food bank of your choice.
