Marilyn Singer died January 17th, 2013 at the age of 85. |
Marilyn was proud to be a native San Franciscan. Marilyn graduated from Washington High School, and soon after, she met her husband of 64 years and love of her life, Maxwell Singer. They were married at the Fairmont Hotel before 200 guests in 1947.
Marilyn & Max lived in the Sunset district their entire lives. She became a San Francisco and Bay Area tour guide 30 years ago from which she retired in 2012. Marilyn was an active volunteer at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park.
Marilyn enjoyed playing Maj Jong with her friends, going to movies with her dearest friends, and telling everyone about her wonderful city by the bay. Marilyn loved to travel - to Maui with her husband, to Palm Springs annually - and had recently returned from a trip to Israel. She made friends everywhere she went.
Marilyn is survived by her three children, Susan Erpenbeck, Gayle Fernandez and David Singer; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and her dearest friend and sister-in-law, Marilyn Hipschman. She loved her family. She loved her husband. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her city. She loved life.
A family celebration of life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital at Stanford, 400 Hamilton Avenue, Suite 340, Palo Alto, CA 94301 would be appreciated.
