Dear Marilynn's family,
I didn't know Marilynn well but I always enjoyed watching her during BBS rehearsals over many years. She absolutely radiated joy in singing, in our musical community, and in simply being present to life. Quite a teacher.
I also loved spending time at our sectionals in her welcoming home. What a gracious, beautiful soul your Marilynn was. I feel lucky to have been in her presence. My heart goes out to you in your loss.

Dear Family of Marilynn,
What a marvelous mom and grandma you had. She was so alive and vital, so full of song and love of creating beautful sound. Always there was her warmth, curiosity, interest and delight in being part of BBS and being in the world of the arts. Her eyes were bright with joy when she was making music and it was fun watching her from across the room. I will miss her as part of our BBS community, and will remember her always.

I had the pleasure of singing with Marilyn in BBS for almost 10 years. It was my good fortune to look across the room at her. There was no time when her face did not reflect the pure joy of singing. She would often catch my eye and her smile would get even wider. She would pull me in to the moment and everything else would just melt away.
Marilyn was always such a wonderful hostess. I felt so welcome in her home during our sectionals.
BBS will never be quite the same. Marilyn, you will be sorely missed.

Dear, dearer, dearest Marilynn,
You are so sorely missed! How can I possibly find the right words to express what I feel? I remember the moment you and I met - in that piano class at Contra Costa College - what a wonderful blast of delight, energy, FUN, twinkling eyes, warm wit, humor, love and knowledge of of music and culture and of course your SPARKLING PERSONALITY totally drew me into your warm embrace!
Over the years you and I spoke of many things - our children, our lives, our loves, our successes, our challenges, men, politics, J.S.Bach, George & Ira, and so much...I miss you, Marilynn, and I hope you knew how much I loved you!
I suggested that you consider joining BBS, and of course you did so. For many years, you sang in the alto section, loving the music, and enthusiastically beaming your big smile - even when standing became difficult...and then more difficult...
Of course, when you first joined, little did either you or I know that we would eventually hold sectionals at your house for many years! I think for about 10 years we've been coming to your house 8 times a year! The lucky sopranos, altos, tenors and basses - lucky because you generously opened your home to us, and lucky me, to play that terrific Steinway piano. (As Irving wrote, "I know a fine way...to play a Steinway!") And lucky you, because I know you loved having your friends there, singing.
I miss you, sweet Marilynn.
Love, Ellen
