Mary Castro Obituary

Mary Castro Nov. 28, 1942 - Oct. 13, 2010 She will be deeply missed by her family and many close friends. Giving and loving by nature, she helped many people whenever she could and treasured her long career with the Social Security Administration. She was a native of San Francisco and loved her City. She was faithful parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation and a member of the Ladies Philoptchos Society. Mary lived her faith and attended all the holy days of the church as well as every Greek Festival in the Bay Area. She was happiest when the family could all be together and hosted many celebrations. Her Cousins Lunch was an annual event. She was taken from us too soon and is survived by her brother, Nick and sister-in-law Norma, her beloved nephew Nico and Cousins Antoinette, Anthony, Antonio, Catherine, Charles, Diana, Elaine and Patricia. Friends may call on Monday, October 18 after 6:00 p.m. at Annunciation Cathedral, 245 Valencia Street where the Prayer Service (Trisagion) will be held at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 19, at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the Greek Orthodox Memorial Park. Donations preferred to the Annunciation Cathedral Building Fund, www.annunciation.org, 245 Valencia Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.

Rarely does a day go by that I don't think of you. I treasure your handwritten baklava recipe which I have used over 30 years now.
