Michael McDowell Obituary

Michael Alexander McDowell May 19, 1984 - January 20, 2010 Michael Alexander McDowell, Walnut Creek, CA. Master of the quirky one-liner, goofy facial expressions and comedic-like behavior, Mike brought joy and laughter to those around him. Topping his personal chart of "favorite things" were basketball, the number 21, grasshopper pie, music, dancing and singing to his son - he was, indeed, a man of many talents and will be deeply missed. Mike is survived by his son Cash, mother Karen McDowell of Walnut Creek, father Dave McDowell of Sandpoint, ID, sister Rebecca McDowell of Modesto, grandparents Richard & Joyce Devincenzi of Danville, Kate McDowell of Bonners Ferry, ID and Alan & Monetta McDowell of Roseville, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A celebration of life, open to extended family and friends, is planned for early Spring. Updated information will be posted on Karen''s Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations would be greatly appreciated: Contra Costa Clubhouses, Inc http://ccclubhouse.org/ ); NAMI Contra NAMI Contra Costa (http://namicontracosta.org/).

I never thought I would say this but already miss your random text messages and phone calls at all hours of the night...I love your notes and the letter to our son. Thank you for my page/picture, I love it and it is going on my tum tum very soon... I am so blessed that I have a little piece of you with me all the time. He is already growing up to be a little baller and although I have fought it for a long time I can't stop noticing how much of a little Mike he is. I love you and you are forever in my heart.
p.s. Mommy is always right!!!

I met Mike several years ago in Utah. He was instrumental in helping me get through a very difficult time and my life is better for having known him. He had such a wonderful personality and sense of humor. Mike was a charismatic natural leader who one couldn't help but respect and admire. I regret that I did not keep in touch with him after our all-too-brief time together and have often thought about him. I am so saddened to hear about the World's loss and my most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

Mike you were my brother and friend through some of my most fragile days. You introduced me to the Bay and everything it had to offer. We literally shared our interests in shoes and music in a room the size of a shoebox. I will never forget you, I miss you so much. I love you Reubs.
I wish I could have been there for you, I am so sorry. MB's forever. Cornelius out.

Love you Mike. I love this picture of you and the obit. is you to a tee. I am looking forward to seeing Cash grow up. I will be sure to tell him what an amazing athlete you are and how incredibly hilarious you are as well. I have so much else to say but I think I will keep that between the two of us. I miss you more than I have ever missed anyone and I only wish you could have stayed longer with a heart that knew how much love we all had for you. You are a rare bird Mike. Take care of Murphy and Oreo. Enjoy the year round March Madness and endless chocolate milkshakes. God Bless you Mike. Know that you are loved.
Your sis, Katie McKinley
