Pauline Kolenda

Pauline Moller Kolenda of Kensington, California passed away on March 15th, 2014.  Pauline was born February 4th, 1928 in Manchester, New Hampshire to Robert Fulton Moller of Massachusetts and Mary Paulina Sloan Moller of Scotland.  Pauline graduated from Nashua High School, received a BA in Anthropology from Wellesley University in 1948, and a PhD in Anthropology from Cornell University in 1953.  Pauline met her husband, Konstantin Kolenda, a Professor of Philosophy at Rice University, on a blind date in Michigan, married, and then moved to Houston, Texas in 1962.  Pauline was a Professor of Social Anthropology, specializing in India, at the University of Houston, from 1962 until her retirement to California in 1999.  Pauline is survived by her sister Mary of Florida, her son Christopher of Texas, her step daughter Helena of New York,  grand-daughter Cassandra of Texas, and nephews Bruce Moller, Barry Moller, and James Brower.  Pauline had many friends in the San Francisco Bay Area who are invited to a gathering on Thursday or Friday, time and date to be determined.  If you are friend of Pauline's, please e-mail LowerSaxony1@gmail.com for information.  In lieu of flowers, please give to the in the name of Pauline.
