Richard Bersamin Memoriam

Richard Salvador Bersamin Feb. 7, 1910 - Sept. 25, 2009 Beloved husband, father, grand father, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. A great man of dignity, grace, and strong virtues devoted to love and peace. A faithful Catholic and patriotic American. An exceptional orator, accomplished chef and humanitarian. A world traveler, who loved life, all people, animals, horticulture, sports and fishing. Richard cherished his wife and family and his health consciousness and humor led him to a long life of 99 years. Dearest Papa, Remembering and missing you on your one-year anniversary with Our Lord.... You gave us a lifetime of love, joy and laughter. We hold sacred and are grateful for our time shared. Our love for you is eternal and you will live forever in our hearts. Thank you for devoting your life to the most important aspirations in life: faith, family, humanity and country. You have shown and taught us unconditional love, support, kindness, generosity, compassion, strength, courage, tolerance, work ethic, equality, integrity and pride. By your life's examples and teachings, we too are proud, strong and have faith in God. Thank you for being a wonderful person and instilling in us your magnificent wisdom. We will honor and respect you and Mama by celebrating your life. Your name, integrity, dreams and joyful spirit will live on forever... through your children, your legacy. Until we meet again... Your loving and devoted family ~ Aloha and Mahalo ~

Dear Papa,

Even though I met you kind of late in your life, I still had the pleasure of meeting a great man.

I know you cannot read this letter but I want to put down these words to honor a great man that gave me the most beautiful woman I ever loved -- your daughter, Joanne.

I am really grateful for wherever you are at... I will always be grateful to you for your friendship, support, and understanding.

I hope we meet again some day in the eternal life and spend some more time together.

God Bless you -- Rest in Peace.

Love,
David

Richard,

I am soo happy for you to now be at peace and be able to truly celebrate all that you believed in. Your time spent in this world has left an everlasting impression which will never be forgotten. This I believe to be the true purpose of life, to leave the world a better place than before your time.

Dad,

There are no words to describe the depths of my love for you. I miss you so very much. I miss talking to you, hearing you laugh, your smile, going for walks together and holding hands. It has been an extremely sorrow-filled year without you. I pray that your journey in the Kingdom of God is as beautiful as you described. I pray for serenity for our family and all those who grieve for you.

I am truly blessed to have had such a great father. Thank you and Mama for loving me and providing a wonderful environment to thrive. The world is a better place for you having been here. Your goodness and loving, generous and joyful spirit will live on through all those you have touched for generations to come.

YOUR SMILE
Though your smile is gone forever,
and your hand I cannot touch,
I still have so many memories
of the one I loved so much.
Your memory is my keepsake,
With which I will never part.
God has you in His keeping,
I have you in my heart.

Until we can hold hands again in eternity, I will relish in the hundreds upon hundreds of fond memories we shared. I know you are with me always and I love you with every beat of my heart. Peace be with you my Father.
I miss you, Dad,
Malia
