Robert Allen Obituary

Robert Morgan Allen Always the consummate sailor at an early age Bob took his final voyage after 80 years of living, loving and giving his family and friends the joy of his company. Survived by his wife, Marlene of 58 years, son Bill Allen, wife Katie, daughter Lori Brady, husband Terry, grandchildren Melissa, husband Dave, Brad, wife Karie, Kara, Erika, Brian and Blaire. Bob was born in Los Angeles, graduated from Hamilton High, BS from UCLA, a Masters from USC. Served in the Korean War in the Navy and left as a LTJR. Bob moved to northern CA and became part of the beginning Semiconductor companies in Silicon Valley, Dir. of Finance for Fairchild Semiconductor, President of Dyna Craft and VP. of NAS, part of National Semiconductor. He retired early to achieve our shared dream of sailing on our boat, Maria Elena, San Francisco to Mexico, and exploring the South Pacific Islands. Many more boating adventures followed over the years, the last twelve in our Trawler, Sea Chantey. Never far from a boat he was Staff Commodore of Sausalito Yacht Club, Staff Commodore of Pacific Interclub Yacht Association, RC of Cruising Club of America SF Station. Later on he spent 20 fantastic summers on his boat at Grindstone Joe's in the Delta. His warm smile, hearty laugh was shared with many friends through the years. He will be missed. Celebration of Life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 240 Tiburon Blvd, Tiburon, on October 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice By The Bay, Larkspur, CA.
