Robert Dummel Obituary

Robert Joseph Dummel Jun. 19, 1930 - Nov. 26, 2010 Bob was a native of the San Francisco bay area. He was the son of Robert G. and Pauline Dummel. He was the husband of Grace, the father of Eric and Ruth and the father-in-law of Krista and Marcus. He had four grandchildren. He received his BA in chemistry from USF and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Stanford. He worked in basic research at UCSF, publishing a number of papers. He finished his career working in the biomedical diagnostics industry. He did substantial work on the now widely utilized assay for CRP. He was an avid reader with interests in poetry, anthropology, and field biology. He also enjoyed classical music. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.

I worked with Bob at Technicon Corporation/Bayer Diagnostics for a few years back in the 1990's . We shared an office. He was a friendly guy with wide ranging interests including the game Go. He told me that his son Eric was in Med School. Bob, Via con Dios.
