Robert Dodge Riedy |
Jan. 7, 1918 - April 25, 2013
Robert (Bob) Riedy, a second generation San Franciscan, passed away unexpectedly near his home in Sewall's Point, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dixie Rhodes Riedy; his children: Dodge Riedy (Maureen), Rich Riedy (Lynda), Mary Kay Finn (Brendan), and Sallie Raynolds (Newt), ten grandchildren and a great-grandaugher all of whom he was quite proud. His family also includes his cousin, Marge Zeile Mull, his many nieces and nephews and close friends whom he considered family, Lynn King and Peter Lavaroni. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dodge Alexander and Marie Greene Riedy; his late wife and mother of his four children, Kathryn Cassidy Riedy; sisters Mary Fox Klein and Jane La Souley.
Bob served in Germany during World War II for the U.S. Army and upon his return he completed his degree at The University of San Francisco. He enjoyed a long career as an insurance broker specializing in construction bonding and contractor's insurance.
Touring the backroads of California in his '31 Auburn and Model T's with the Horseless Carriage Club was the source of many good memories and friendships. Since his move to Florida in 1999 he had been an active member of the Treasure Coast Vintage Car Club in Stuart and at age 95 years still participated in the club!
Bob was a gentleman and a gentle man. He will be remembered for his affable manner, his kindness to family and friends, his ready laugh and his sense of humor.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
