Roy M. Fross

Passed away May 10th 2013 peacefully at home with his family, 93 years old. Devoted husband of 61 years to Alberta Fross, father of Daniel and Susan, father-in-law of Debra, Grandfather to Tim and Gina Fross. Patriarch of many nieces, nephews and cousins of the Fross and Levit families.

A lifelong San Franciscan, attended Laguna Honda elementary, Polytechnic High School class of 1937. Indentured as an Electrical Inside Wireman apprentice and a second generation member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 6, San Francisco; journeyman in 1941. Enlisted US Navy 1942 during World War II. Served in the Pacific as a Chief Petty Officer (Seabee) repairing ships at sea. After the war as a ready/reserve teaching electrical theory at Treasure Island Naval Base. Recalled to active service during the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Jason.

Roy met Alberta Moloney while both were employed at the Port. They married May 20, 1951, during the Korean War, while he was on leave from service in Japan.

Employed by the State of California at Port of San Francisco 1946 as an electrician. Retired in 1984, as Asst. Superintendent of Harbor Maintenance. Past President of the California State Employees Assoc. Harbor Chapter I. A lifelong student, he regularly attended electrical industry classes and seminars until his retirement.

Roy enjoyed world travel with Alberta during his 28 years of retirement.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Memorial ; Sunday, June 9th 2:00 PM at the Masonic Lodge, 855 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco.
