Rudy DeCaminada Obituary

Rudy J. DeCaminada, Jr. The gentle, kind, and compassionate spirit of Rudy DeCaminada, Jr., 58, passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2010 in the love, light, and warmth of the Lord with family and friends by his side. Rudy fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for nearly two years. He is preceded in death by his father Rudy DeCaminada, Sr. He is survived by his loving mother Margie DeCaminada, his devoted twin brother Randy DeCaminada and his older brother Timothy DeCaminada, caring nephews Andrew, Matthew and Mark DeCaminada and niece Kristi DeCaminada. Rudy is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law Diane DeCaminada and sister-in-law Susan DeCaminada. He is also survived by his loving aunt, Lena Thompson, cousins Len, Paula, and Wesley Thompson and Roseanne, Steve, Molly and Mason Heipel. Rudy is survived by countless caring friends, including Bill Doherty, John Mangini and Michael Yee. Rudy was born and raised in Albany, CA. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and graduated from UC Berkeley, where he mastered the German language. While in college Rudy spent two years in Germany learning his culinary skills and traveling through Europe. After graduating from Cal, he entered the California Culinary Academy, where he also graduated. Rudy was the Food Service Director at Castilleja School in Palo Alto for 30 years. Rudy, a fabulous chef, also operated a private catering business in the Palo Alto area for many years. Rudy will be best remembered for his sincere generosity and kindness to others, the special twinkle in his eyes, his gentle ways and sense of humor. He had a deep love for family and friends. His family would like to thank "our angel", hospice nurse Judith Miller and the other "angels", the nurses who came to our home who gave support, compassion, and care to our dear Rudy. Rudy was very grateful. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on January 15, 2011 at 11:00 am St. Jerome's Catholic Church 308 Carmel Ave., El Cerrito, CA. The inurnment will be private at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Rosa, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the memory of Rudy DeCaminada to: Sutter VNA and Hospice, 1110 North Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401 or to Castilleja School, 1310 Bryant Street, Palo Alto, CA 94301.
