Sarah Ann (Sally) Jordan
July 30, 1930 ~ Nov. 19, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Sally Jordan. She passed away at home and we are grateful that all of her children were with her at her bedside.
Mom was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1930. She graduated from high school at the age of 15 and from the University of Alberta at the age of 19. Afterward, she began a career in teaching. Mom met our father, Jimmy Jordan, while living in Glasgow, Scotland, as an exchange teacher. They married in 1958 and moved to San Francisco where they raised five children. Mom volunteered for many years at St. Agnes Parrish and, later, at St. Finn Barr Parrish. She also loved to travel with Dad and took many trips with her children and grandchildren, always traveling the world with ease. Mom quietly performed many acts of kindness and supported many charity organizations.
Mom was preceded in death by our father in 2004. She leaves behind her children - Catherine (Bennett Miller), John, Joseph (Soraya), Sheila (Timothy O'Connor) and Peter. She was the proud grandmother of Aidan, Dylan, Giovanni, John, Ferris and Jamie Rose.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Cathie Jordan and brothers-in-law Rev. Francis Jordan and Bernard Jordan. She is predeceased by her brother John Astell, sisters-in-law Violet Astell, Jessie Jordan, Mary Jordan and Nan Jordan, and brothers-in-law Jackie Jordan and Stephen Jordan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in the Bay Area, Seattle, Canada and England.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, November 26th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, with a Rosary/Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. also at Duggan's Serra. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, November 27th at St. Finn Barr Church, 415 Edna Street, San Francisco, followed by the Committal at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma.
We are grateful for the loving care given to our mother by Thelma Shreeves.
