Sebastian “Seb” Frank Basilico

June 3, 1931-February 13, 2014 A resident of El Dorado Hills, CA

Sebastian Frank Basilico, 82, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2014.  Seb, as known by family and friends, was the son of Frank Basilico and Maria Di Grande.  He is survived by his wife Maria, and three daughters, Linda, Josephine, and Frances.  Also, survived by his grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Antonio, Gabriela, and Marcella, great grandchildren, Christian, Sebastian, Gabriel, Michael, and Sophia and nephews Brent, Chad, and Brier.    Born and raised in San Francisco, he enjoyed family and work life in the City.  He graduated from Galileo High School.  As a young man, Seb entered the Army in 1953 serving in the Korean War receiving an honorable discharge in 1960 with numerous service Medals and Bronze Stars.  He worked as a Solid and Chemical Waste Disposal Engineer for 36 years.  He was "green" before the term became a household word.  With Sunset Scavengers/NorCal, Seb traveled to foreign countries with his partners in the 70's to teach other countries how to recycle by seting up recycling programs and processes.  In retirement, Seb and Maria settled in El Dorado Hills because he wanted to be closer to the mountains where he enjoyed fishing, his boat, and 4 wheeling.  Their life grew with many good friends and neighbors.  He is a member of the Sons In Retirement Branch 49 in Folsom, CA.  He previously served as Big SIR for Branch 166 of El Dorado Hills for the year 2000.  As a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seb served as Sir Knight of the 4th degree.  He liked traveling around the world with Maria enjoying the people and the history.  To him, there was nothing like Maria's cooking.  Seb will be greatly missed by all he met in life. 

Services will be held on February 28th at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Parish, 3111 Tierra de Dios Drive, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762 followed by a Celebration of Life Reception.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to:  , 2007 O Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.
