Vera Compton Obituary

Vera Windholz Compton "Auntie Vera" Dec. 2, 1943 to Sept. 30, 2010 Vera finally lost her fight with lung cancer and died September 30, 2010. She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Richard (Dick), her daughters Michelle and Stacey, and her grandchildren, Danielle, Justin Patrick, Bryson, Trenton and Jillian. She also leaves her extended family to which she is simply "Auntie Vera" to the entire Miller Clan. Vera was born in Guayaquil Ecuador. Her parents Wilfred and Edith had fled Chezchoslovia in 1939 prior to the invasion and immigrated to Ecuador. When she was three the family gained entrance to the United States and Vera became naturalized when her parents became Citizens. She was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Lincoln High School. Vera and Dick were married in 1966 and spent their first married years, along with all the other newly weds, at Park Merced. In 1969 they moved to San Rafael and remained there until 1997 when they moved to Walnut Creek. Vera was a very special lady. She touched many lives with her outgoing personality, friendship and love. She made most everyone she met her friend. The manner in which she approached death this last year should be an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to have known her. There will be a celebration of Vera's life in a Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Blvd, Walnut Creek on Wednesday October 6 at 11:30 a.m. The family suggests donations to your local Hospice.

I am in shock to hear that Vera is gone. I have lost a friend, a mentor, a woman who loved me and truly believed in me. Vera was a lady who listened to me and gave me confidence. She was funny, straight forward and new exactly who she was. I hope she knew how much she meant to me. I loved her and feel empty not being able to say goodbye. With love and many wonderful memories.
