Wallace Eastburn Obituary

Wallace Roe (Wally) Eastburn Aged 87, passed away September 11 at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael due to complications from a fall at home. Wally was born October 18, 1922 in Delta, Iowa and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He settled in the San Francisco Bay Area following his World War II service in the US Navy. Wally found his calling late in life as a yoga enthusiast and teacher. He was an accomplished practitioner in the B.K.S. Iyengar method and was proud of his privilege of studying with Mr. Iyengar in India. Wally taught yoga for 35 years in both the SF Bay Area and the Sacramento area and leaves behind many beloved colleagues and students. He loved to travel in his camper, particularly in the high Sierra and on the north coast. Affectionately known as Papa and Grandpa, he loved spending time with his family. Wally is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Eastburn, daughters Kristina Schierenbeck (Jim), Karen Burow-Fogg (Graham), son Matt Thompson (Dorothy), grandchildren, Barron Cusick, Lee Cusick, Paul Burow, Benjamin Thompson, Dana Burow, Laura Thompson, Angela Lashbrook, Celia Eckert, Carson Fogg. He is also survived by his nephew, Kent Eastburn, many other nieces and nephews, a great-grandson, and a great-great grandson. He was predeceased by his daughter Amanda Lashbrook, his parents, and siblings, Lillian, Mack, Harold and Kent. A graveside service for the family will be held at a later date at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael, California.
