I had the pleasure of working with Morey during the Zasu Pitts years. He was a beautiful spirit, amazing musician, and always treated me with love and respect. I always looked up to him and Katy. And I always will. Thanks for the friendship.

Oh, how I miss Morey playing with and against Fred Foss back in the Harpur days. Rest in peace, Morey. I have thought of you often all these years.

Morey, David and Susan

I was terribly saddened to hear of Morey’s passing. He was the kid around the corner and a good friend way back when. After school he played me show tunes on the piano and we’d look at his Mao literature which was sent to him unsolicited in response to his Ham radio communications (he was pretty sure the secret service were watching him). These foolish things turned to sax and basement rock n’ roll in later years (I can’t say what became of the ham radio set), college days in Binghamton, and finally professional music here in California. I’ve posted a few pictures of Morey with hometown friends – circa 1970-75. My deepest sympathy to his wife, close friends and any other surviving family (sister Ruth?). I’d love to see more recent photos.

Our lives intersected for such a brief period, at SUNY Binghamton over 30 years ago. Morey was a special guy, however. My appreciation of music, life, laughter and friendship was forever enhanced by knowing him. My heartfelt condolences go out to Katie and all Morey's friends and family

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Morey. I am thankful that I got the opporunity to tell him at One Morey Time how much his music has inspired over the 20+ years that I've followed ZPMO and BBB. Rock n Roll Heaven just got an amazing sax player!

I am very sad that Morey has passed, and send fond regards and condolences to Katie.
I've known Morey since 1977, when I met him at a Readymades gig in Berkeley.
He was a great guy with a huge heart and a sunny disposition.
Miss you, man...

Well, I can honestly say that Morey was an honest, sensitive and humerous dude. On top he being a sensational musician, he was (more importantly) a great guy without a bitter bone in his body. I am a better musician for playing with him; and a better person for knowing him. Rest in peace Morey ...
