Elizabeth "Betty" McClure Hunt passed away on June, 4, 2012 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Grant "Jim" Hunt, Jr., daughter Martha Curry and son Grant Hunt. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Margaret Hunt who passed away in 1973. Additionally, Betty is survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Born in 1922 in Alameda, California, Betty raised her family in the San Francisco Bay Area until moving to Calistoga in 1982 and eventually moving to St. Helena. Betty was a 1944 graduate of UC Berkeley. While there, Betty was a campus leader where she served as the women's representative in student government and she was also a very active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Betty continued her friendship with her sorority sisters meeting monthly for more than 40 years after graduation. Betty was always an active member of the Napa Valley community; especially volunteering for causes championed by St. Helena Catholic Church. The greatest love of Betty's life was her family which she dedicated all her time and attention. From school to church, she was always at the center of her children's lives. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Helena Catholic Church located at the corner of Tainter and Oak in St. Helena at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to Napa Valley Hospice, 414 South Jefferson Street, Napa, CA 94559.
