David passed away peacefully at home in Berkeley, CA on November 1, 2013, following a brief struggle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. David sought out the good in all people, and his relationships were characterized by warmth, acceptance, patience and love.
David was born on June 19, 1936 and grew up in CA. He graduated from UC Berkeley and married his high school sweetheart, Judith Ward. He served in the Navy and spent 25 years working at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, MA. David was a faithful and active member of the Sudbury Presbyterian Church in Sudbury, MA, and more recently, First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, CA.
David enjoyed camping, spending time with family at Lake Winnipesaukee in NH, and watching Cal sports events. He loved to build things and was an extraordinary handyman. He was his children's and grandchildren's greatest cheerleader.
David will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy; his devoted children and their spouses Michael Knoll and Noreen Beckie, Jennifer and Page Bouchard, Karen Knoll and Carlos Puyo, and Scott and Melissa Knoll; and his 10 cherished grandchildren Shane, Jessica, Hannah, Elizabeth, Tatiana, Theo, Carlos, Phoebe, Sophie, and Molly.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church, 2407 Dana St, Berkeley, CA 94704. Gifts in David's memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley. A portion of these gifts will be shared with Habitat for Humanity.

To the Knoll family.
My name is Austin Molloy from Galway Ireland. I had the privilege of meeting Dave both here and in the Old Mill in Maynard Mass. Dave was a lovely kind person and was extremely good to me when I was travelling as DEC employ to the US. On his very last visit to Ireland Dave sought out and found me. We exchanged many stories of our time with DEC. May Dave´s soul gently rest in peace.

sorry for your loss. Dave was one of those who made that a great place to work and did it in his own way. Don
