Yoe May Ahtoy|
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2013 with her large family around her. She was born in Canton, China and at age 5 travelled with her mother by boat for a month, to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) Africa. She grew up in the rural part of Rhodesia, married Wong Ling Ahtoy (deceased) and worked very hard while raising 7 daughters and running their own small grocery and cafes. Yoe lived in Zimbabwe for over 60 years and in her heart, Africa was her home. She knew the native language and culture. She loved the people, the animals and the smells and skies of Africa. She later bravely moved to San Francisco for 15 years to be closer to her daughters and help raise her grandchildren.
She always lived at home with her family and loyal dogs, until she passed away. She was very loved by her friends and family. She cooked delicious meals and showered each family member with smiles and love every day. She was cheerful and had fun enjoying casino trips, playing slots and roulette.
Yoe was a loving, caring and charitable person with a big heart. She helped many people in her life. She never judged others and took life in stride. She had great personal strength and fortitude. She was a brave and courageous woman, and a strong survivor of different life events. At the age of 85, Yoe still took care of her own 105 year old mother at home. She was a dedicated daughter, a loyal wife and nurturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She believed in God's love and care for all of us.
Beloved mother of Ann (John), Sally, Irene (Smithy), Jean (Ken), Evelyn Fei Wong (Howk), Julie (Phil), Brigitte (Ed), grandmother of 17 and great grandmother of 10. She will truly be missed.
We love you, our dearest Mom. You kept us together and had a huge presence and impact on each of our lives. We will miss your smile, your voice and your tenderness. You will forever be in our hearts.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Yoe's life for viewing and services on Saturday, November 30th 2013 at 1:30 pm at Green Street Mortuary, 649 Green Street, San Francisco, CA 94133. Interment, Greenlawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.
