Abigail Grubbs Ahmanson, passed away peacefully in her home in Long Beach California surrounded by her family on January 2nd 2014. The daughter of Santa Monica attorney and former City Prosecutor, James Lowell Grubbs and Nancy Barrett Grubbs of San Francisco. Abigail is survived by her loving and ever caring sons, William (Rika) and Jonathon (Cat), her sisters Lynn Peterson (Bob) and Ann Macpherson, brother, James B. Grubbs (Michele), and loving nieces and nephews Katherine, Monica, Barrett Grubbs and Matthew and Caitlin Peterson. Abby was the youngest of her siblings; she attended St. Martin of Tours, Paul Revere Middle School, Palisades High School and Pepperdine University on an athletic scholarship. She was also a national champion in sailing. Abby loved the outdoors and traveling, she was loved by those who had the pleasure of her presence. She was always caring and generous to those she met and had a way of speaking to the people around her that showed how much she cared. She was a true original. Abby embraced her life with tenacity and took everything that was thrown at her with grace, poise, and a sense of humor. She will be missed by many and remembered by all who met her. We love you Abigail.
A reception to celebrate the life of Abby and all that she meant to us, will be held on Saturday Jan. 11 at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club (ABYC) in Long Beach.
