Victor D'Acquisto Obituary
Victor Joseph D'AcquistoOn Tuesday, June 10th, our dear father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home just a month shy of reaching 99. He leaves behind his son Salvatore (Chris) D'Acquisto, and daughters Betti D'Acquisto and Marilyn (Phil) Niehaus. He was the proud Papa of Joseph D'Acquisto, Anthony (Candise) D'Acquisto, Jessica (Beau) Beane, Marcus (Mary) Niehaus and Julie (Michael) Pignati. His loving family expanded to great grand-children Jerika D'Acquisto, Nicholas D'Acquisto, and Brandon and Cameron Beane. He was thrilled to hear that "baby Pignati" will be arriving in October.
He was born in San Francisco on July 16th, 1915 to Salvatore and Gaetana D'Acquisto. He was raised in the Bayview District and was proud of his Sicilian Heritage. His loving wife of 74 years, Tillie, passed away in March of 2013. The last remaining member of his family, he was predeceased by his sister Mary (Frank) Zangrillo and his brother Carlo (Catherine) D'Acquisto.
Victor was a member of the Italian Athletic Club, Godfather's Club and the Madonna Addolorata. He loved taking cruises and vacations, including a memorable trip to his parent's birthplace in Sicily, and a Caribbean cruise for their 50th anniversary with their children and grandchildren. Victor owned several gas stations all over San Francisco and then worked for "The City" for over 20 years. After retirement, he continued to work on cars for another 30 years! He loved dancing, trips to Reno, college football and growing fruits and veggies (in family members' gardens!!).
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Thursday, June 12th from 4 - 9PM with a Rosary at 7PM at Duggan's Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 13th at 11AM at St. Cecilia's Church, 660 Vicente St., San Francisco. Burial to follow at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salesian Boys and Girls club or a charity dear to your heart. God Bless "Papa Vic".
