Margaret Lester Obituary

Margaret "Midge" Lester Jan. 9, 1924 - Aug. 14, 2009 Midge passed away on August 14, in Oakland, after a long and full life. Eldest child of William E. Rogers and Edith Donnelly Rogers, Midge was born in Pennsylvania. After graduation from Wellesley College in 1946, Midge worked as a research chemist for seven years. After her marriage in 1954 to Charles F. Lester, she lived for the remaining years of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area, actively involved in civic organizations and in the support of public education. She and Charles raised two sons: Mark, of Rohnert Park and Peter, of Oakland. Following receipt of an MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, in 1976, Midge established her own marketing research firm, Lester and Partners. Survivors include Mark and his children, Christine Lester and T.J. Lester of Sonoma County; Peter (Ann Ludwig) and their child, Nicholas; Midge's brother, William E. Rogers, Jr. (Sue) of Arizona and their daughters, Lesley and Alexandra; and Midge's sister, Helen E. Rogers of Mill Valley. A private service will be held at Sea Ranch in the Fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Midge's name to Wellesley College Friends of Art.
