Photo Gerald Mason Feb. 16th, 1926 - December 26th, 2008 Gerald Mason passed away at home in Roswell, NM on December 26th, 2008. He was born on February 16th, 1926 to his loving parents; Carmelita D. and Wesley R. Mason. Gerald is survived by his first wife Vera B.; his sons Raymond (Priscila) and Bob; his daughter Dolores; and his grandchildren, Rene, Richard (Amanda), Vera; step grandchildren, Michael, Elpedio, Maria, and many great-grand children. Gerald was preceded in death by his second wife Ina A; and leaves behind stepsons; John (Tina), Randy (Liz), Mark; and stepdaughter Kristine (John). He will be dearly missed by his large family and friends. Gerald graduated from Mission High School in 1943 and went to work as an auto mechanic-apprentice at Les Vogel Chevrolet in S.F. until the onset of WWII where he enlisted as a U.S. Marine from 1944-1946 and discharged as a corporal. After he left the service, he worked in San Francisco at Babe Zankas, Bud's Super Frame and Monroe Auto Body. He applied his knowledge in the auto trade and became partners with Hal Wesby at Columbus Auto Repair. In the 1970's he went into business with Alignement Service on Clement Street in San Francisco and then relocated to Capp Street in 1976 until his retirement. Gerald's love of cars and his dream was to build a Model "A" of his own, which he did. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 26th, 2009 from 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service to begin at 5:30 p.m. at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City CA. Committal will be held privately at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Gerald Mason.
