Charlotte Flecker

Obituary Condolences

Charlotte Scott Flecker In Portland, Oregon on March 7, 2010. Born in 1925 to Lithuanian immigrants, Rebekkah and Samuel Scott, she was the youngest of eight children. Charlotte grew up in New York City, and after graduating from the Cornell University School of Nursing moved to California, where she met and married Theodore (Ted) Flecker, her husband of 42 years until his death in 1995. She worked as a high school nurse in South San Francisco while raising her family with Ted in San Bruno. Charlotte was loving, creative, caring, and highly committed to being engaged in the world around her. She was fiercely independent and unafraid to explore something different. She was a lover of Judaica and Yiddishkeit, which was a central part of her identity, and served as President of Beth Israel-Judea's Sisterhood for many years, as well as a proud volunteer worker in Israel. Charlotte opened her home to all including the stray animals her children brought home allowing her to have granddogs before grandchildren. She was well traveled and interested in other cultures, as she and her family hosted a variety of foreign exchange students. She is survived by her children and spouses, Dr. Suzanne Flecker (Rick Bonilla), Dr. Alexander Flecker (Dr. Alison Power), Dr. Robert Flecker (Mary Reed-Flecker) and Jonathan Flecker (Lisa Flecker), as well as her grandchildren (Sam, Kaiya, Alder, Liana, Max, Daniel and the late Ricky) she adored. Services will be held on Thursday, March 11th at 1:00pm at Salem Memorial Park, 1171 El Camino Real, in Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations to ORT, Hadassah, or other charity would be appreciated.
