Thomas Joseph Padden Passed away at his home in San Rafael on Wednesday March 18, 2010 at the age of 84. Tom was born on July 3, 1925 as the son of Thomas and Mary Padden of Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his brother Joe Padden and beloved wife of 51yrs. Patricia Padden. He is survived by his sisters Mary and Kathleen Padden, his 3 children Kathleen Gallagher, Maureen Singleton, and Thomas Padden, and his 6 grandchildren Brett, Christa, Daniel, and Anna Gallagher, and Jacob and Joshua Singleton. He was a graduate of the University of Portland, a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Tom began his career in law enforcement as a Police Officer in Portland, OR. Tom then joined the FBI where he served for 30 yrs. He worked on many high profile cases including the arrest of Patty Hearst. Upon retirement from the FBI, Tom began work as an investigator in the private sector before returning to public service as an investigator for the S.F. District Attorney's office where he worked until the age of 80. Tom was a man of honor and integrity that always put the needs of others before himself. Tom volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul and served as an usher for over 45 yrs at St. Isabella's Catholic Church in San Rafael. The Rosary will be held on Tues., March 23 @7pm and the Funeral Mass Wed., March 24 @1pm. Both will occur at St. Isabella's Church, 1Trinity Way, San Rafael, CA 94903.
