Linda McCausland Obituary
Linda Marie McCausland 1947-2010 Linda, a fourth-generation San Franciscan, is now at peace after a brief struggle with cancer. Linda was the beloved sister of Warren McCausland, and sister-in-law of Cathy, pre-deceased by her parents Frances and Henry McCausland; also survived by cousins in California and Oregon, and many devoted friends and colleagues. Linda attended St. Cecilia's, Mercy High School, and graduated from the University of San Francisco '69 with a Degree in History, and a Certificate in Elementary Education '70. She since served on the USF Alumni Board of Directors for six years. Linda taught First Grade for seven years at St. Monica's School, and for the past 33 years taught First Grade at Holy Name School; she was also Vice Principal the past two years. She was greatly respected by her peers, and idolized by many of her students who kept in contact after completing First Grade. One of the many acknowledgments she received in her career was an Award for Teaching Excellence from the Herbst Foundation. Linda had a huge impact on all of the people she touched and will live in their hearts forever. She loved teaching, traveling the world with friends, reading and cooking. We wish to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at St. Mary's Medical Center and Pathways Home Hospice for their wonderful care of Linda during her illness. A Mass celebrating Linda's life will be held Friday, October 15th, 10am, at Holy Name Church, 39th Avenue and Lawton Street in San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Linda's memory to either Holy Name School, 1560-40th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122; the University of San Francisco, File 30761, PO Box 60000, San Francisco, CA 94160-0001, or to a favorite charity.
