Leroy Tonelli Obituary
Leroy Paul Tonelli Passed away in Santa Rosa, California on March 19, 2012. Dearly beloved husband of 62 years to Verde Tonelli; Loving father of Stephen Tonelli, Kevin Tonelli and the late Valerie Tonelli; Cherished grandfather of Stephenie Tonelli and Heather Boyd; Dear brother of Donald Tonelli; Adored great grandfather of Skyler Hays and Shane Boyd. He is also lovingly survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in his family's San Francisco home on May 7, 1926, LeRoy moved to San Rafael as a young child and attended local schools. During WWII he served his country proudly, in the US Navy, aboard the USS Sherbourn. After receiving his discharge from service, LeRoy returned to San Rafael and worked in his father's butcher shop. He soon met his bride-to-be, Verde, and they married on January 8, 1950. The couple then moved to Kenwood and during a butcher's strike LeRoy changed careers and became a driver for Ready Mix Concrete, at the suggestion of his father-in-law. In 1960 LeRoy, his brother-in-law and some other partners started Superior Supplies. LeRoy enjoyed his career in the industry for 62 years. He enjoyed being involved in his local community as a member of the Board of Director's for the Kenwood Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and he was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved fishing in Mexico and Canada and the times he traveled to Italy. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 10:00AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1244 St. Francis Road, Santa Rosa. A Rosary Service will be held at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Avenue, Santa Rosa, on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 7:00PM. Visitation will be held at the Daniels Chapel of the Roses on both Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM and on Monday, March 26, 2012 beginning at 10:00AM. Interment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa. If desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Kenwood Firefighter's Association, PO Box 249, Kenwood, CA 95452.
