SIMON YRAGUI Obituary
Simon "Rocky" Yragui "How Can You Thank Someone Who Has Taken You From Crayons To Perfume?.... It Isn't Easy.... But I'll Try". Simon Jose Yragui, know by his family & friends as Rocky, passed away Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012 at a place he loved, his home. Blessed by a ray of morning sunlight shining in his bedroom he left us silently and in peace while he slept. He was a strong, humble, gentle, kind, soft spoken and generous man who put all of God's creatures before him. Everyone who met him was somehow changed by his optimistic outlook. His love of life and food, his humor and his smiling eyes touched us all. Rocky was a Machinist & Mechanic in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. Afterwards he was a founding partner along with Walter Lunardini of Shoreline Diesel who serviced the then thriving fisherman's industry at 'Fisherman's Wharf". He was a self taught electrical engineer who invented the worlds first automatic pilot called 'The Rocky Box' which enabled fishermen with a limited amount of crew members to be able to fish well into the night. Rumor has it some are still in use today. He has been blessed with longevity and good health and spent most of his adult life with his loving wife Bernice Yragui. They traveled the world together and frequently took along their nieces & nephews. While Rocky leaves behind his remaining loving family & many wonderful friends, he also leaves behind his love for animals, particularly Myka, his devoted companion and also the very handsome Mr. Pinkerton along with the young and rebellious Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. They will miss him terribly. Rocky, thank you for giving us memories that will forever last our lifetimes; you will always remain in our hearts and souls. As Rocky's favorite Jimmy Durante might say in this special rendition... "Goodnight Uncle Rocky wherever you are". Friends may visit Monday, June 18th from 6:00-9:00pm at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City and are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Tuesday the 19th, 10:30am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 1 Elmwood Dr., Daly City. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.
