James Robert Harstad
January 21, 1947 - August 6, 2012
James Robert Harstad of San Francisco died on August 6, 2012 while scuba diving off the coast of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. Jim was a beloved husband, brother and father who died too soon at the age of 65. He is greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years Diane De Corso, his sisters Pat Harstad and Nori Neuner, his brother-in-law Ken Neuner, his nieces Claire and Kendall Neuner, his son Jon Del Bino, his daughter-in-law Jennifer Davis Del Bino, and his grandchildren Daniel and Victoria Del Bino. Very recently Jim retired as Chief Financial Officer of Progress Foundation in San Francisco, an organization committed to innovative mental health services in the Bay Area. His foresight and caring approach improved the quality of life for thousands of needy clients. For 29 years Jim worked tirelessly on both the financial and operational sides of the agency and was loyally dedicated to the success of Progress, earning him wide respect by professionals in the mental health community. Jim's other great passions included scuba diving (he'd completed more than 450 dives throughout the world), traveling with his wife, and a voracious appetite for good food, good wine and good reads. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the
for cardiomyopathy research. A celebration of his life is planned in the near future.
