Marilyn Rogers Obituary
Marilyn Catherine

Jan. 3, 1927 - Jan. 14, 2014

Marilyn passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday afternoon January 14th 2014. Her husband Ed Rogers pre-deceased her by  6 years.

Marilyn was born into this world to Dan F. and Florence Newell as the "Great Depression" was ensuing. She was raised in San Bruno where her Dad had a restaurant and bar business. She attended local schools and took the #40 line to Burlingame High School through graduation.

She met her future husband, Ed Rogers, as she was attending University of California at Berkeley. Ed had just re-enrolled at Cal after returning from the Navy at the end of WWII.

In 1947, Marilyn and Ed were married. They were a true partnership of souls through marriage, work and the raising of their three children Dan, Craig, and Sue. They were married for 60 years at the time of Ed's passing and were residents in Millbrae for their entire married life.

Marilyn and Ed were active members of Green Hills Country Club since 1961.  They enjoyed many long-term close friendships and partook in an active social and recreational life including golf, 49er games, and bridge. Marilyn and Ed enjoyed many special times spent annually with family and friends at Lake Tahoe, La Quinta, CA, and Maui, HI.  Marilyn received immense support from her family and friends at Green Hills after Ed's passing where she increased her bridge schedule over the next 6 years.

Marilyn will be missed by her family and many friends. Her "golden rule" based personality truly developed from childhood into the gracious lady she became.

Marilyn is survived by her three children; Dan, Craig (Barbara) and Sue (Jim Goetter), her 5 grandchildren; Sheilah (Chris Zimmerman), Kristy (Zac Amero), Lauren (Justin Walter), Matthew (Christy) and Steven, her 4 great-grandchildren; Jack, Trevor, Bently and Emmett, her brother Dan Newell and his wife June, 2 nieces: Kelly (Joe Gobert) and their children Joey, Danny, Tracy (Dave Ganster) Taylor and Demi.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" activity for Marilyn Rogers on February 15th 2014  2:00PM - 6:00PM @ Green Hills Country Club located at 500 Ludeman Lane Millbrae, CA
