Carmen Miller Obituary
Carmen J. Miller

1925 – 2014

Carmen J. Miller passed away peacefully on March 5, 2014. She was born in Oakland to first generation immigrants Jesus & Rosario (Romo) Lopez and was proud of her Mexican heritage. She grew up with her brother, Bill, in a family home in SF along with her aunt, uncle and many cousins which made for a large extended family.

She attended St. Brigid's School in SF and worked part time for the IRS during high school and WWII. She continued to work there after graduation and it was there she met and then married Jim. In the 1950's she became a housewife and mother of Denise and Christopher. In the early 1970's she accepted a part time job at UCSF's Millberry Union. She continued to work there until age 80. She was always proud to say working kept her young.

She was a very vibrant and loving grandmother. She lived a very inspirational life filled with many talents and accomplishments: baking, sewing, knitting, gardening, flower arranging, Mexican dominoes, trips to Reno and most importantly playing tennis with numerous friends and clubs until age 79.

At the age of 80, health issues caused her to move out of her home and into assisted living and then on to board and care. Her memory will live on in the lives of all she touched.

Carmen was predeceased by her husband, Jim. She is survived by Denise and Tom Klick and Christopher and Betsy Miller and grandchildren: Matthew & Amy (Miller) and Tyler and Adam (Klick).

Carmen's family would like to acknowledge the care she received with SSF Kaiser Palliative Care and Hospice. Special thanks to the staff at Manalo's Board and Care in SSF who provided friendship, compassion, dignity and quality care.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, you perform random acts of kindness and generosity towards others in Carmen's memory, a donation to St. Anthony's Dining Room or .

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
