Catherine "Cathy" Pavloff

January 25th, 1943 - September 3rd, 2013

Catherine Pavloff, Cathy, age 70, a resident of Oakland, California died peacefully in her home on Tuesday September 3rd, 2013. Cathy was born on January 25th, 1943 in Oakland California to Godfrey and Catherine Mezirka. She was raised in San Francisco with her younger sister, Laura, where she attended Sherman Elementary School, A.P. Giannini Junior High School, Lowell High School and San Francisco State University. She pursued an advanced degree in German Literature and studied at the Goethe Institute, residing in Berlin and Rothenberg, Germany. Cathy was married to Nick F. Pavloff on August 30, 1969; they were married 44 years. During her 20 year teaching career, Cathy taught high school German, fourth and sixth grade multiple subjects, and middle school science.

Catherine is survived by her husband Nick Pavloff of Oakland, California, daughters, Natalie Powell and Tanya Rockwell, son-in-law, Daniel Rockwell, and grandchildren Jackson and Grace Rockwell, of Reno Nevada; her sister Laura Mezirka of San Francisco, sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Frank Anderson of Sunnyvale; nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

On Monday September 9th, 2013, according to her wishes, Cathy had a Green Burial at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley California at the base of Mount Tamalpais. The family hosted a celebration of Catherine's life on Sunday 29th, 2013.
