Marjorie Stanley Albo

Marjorie Stanley Albo of Piedmont, California passed away peacefully in Orinda, California with her family by her side. Marjorie "Marge" was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert Albo, well known bay area surgeon and former team physician of the Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors for many years.

Marge is survived by her son Robert Albo, daughter Debbie Jacobs and youngest son Douglas Albo along with their spouses, Sarah Albo, Robb Jacobs and Keri Albo. In addition, Marge leaves behind eight grandchildren, Timothy, Danielle and Julia Albo of Orinda, California; Jordan, Jennifer and Jillian Jacobs of Granite Bay, California and Calista and Brianna Thompson of Sherwood, Oregon.

Marge is also survived by her brother, Wendell Stanley of Irvine, California, sister Dorothy Erickson of San Rafael, California and sister Janet Bourgeois of San Diego, California.

Born in New York, New York on May 22, 1934, Marge spent her youth in Princeton, New Jersey before her family moved to Berkeley, California in 1948 where her father, the late Dr. Wendell Meredith Stanley (1904-1971), helped establish the virus laboratory at UC Berkeley after being awarded a Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1946.

Marge would go on to matriculate at UC Berkeley where, during the summer of 1954, she met her future husband, Robert Albo, when both were working at the UC Berkeley alumni camp, the "Lair of the Bear" in Pinecrest, California. Marge and Bob Albo were married in 1956.

After starting a family in San Francisco while her husband was in residency at UC San Francisco Medical Center, Marge would later move her family to Piedmont where she would spend the next 50 years. It was in Piedmont that Marge set her roots and became an integral part of the east bay community. Marge was active in Hollyhock, the Hill Branch and a number of other charitable causes. In addition, Marge enjoyed membership in many organizations and clubs and, as a longtime member of Claremont and Silverado Country Clubs, was an avid golf and tennis player.

Marge was more than a devoted wife and loving mother to her family as she touched the hearts of all who knew her. She lived a full and magical life with many friends. She loved to travel and met wonderful people from all over the world. It is with sadness that we mourn Marge's passing though we are also uplifted by her warm spirit, generosity and graciousness. Marge will be deeply missed by all.
