I took a writing class from Dorothy Bryant in the 1970s at Contra Costa College, and I've never forgotten her. I thought I was a good writer until she returned my first assignment: big red Xs through half of it. Ms. Bryant taught me how to write and so much more. I feel such sadness to learn of her passing.
My condolences to her family and friends.

Ella Price's Journal was a transformative book for me in the 70's. Admired her work so much! Condolences to the family.

So sad to,hear of her passing. Is the Chronicle going to write an article about her and her work? They really should. I read many of her books and was thrilled twenty years ago when I met her in a back care class we were both enrolled in at Kaiser Oakland. I'm happy I had an opportunity to tell her how much I loved her work.

I didn't know Dorothy Bryant personally but I felt connected to her through her writing. I read Ella Prices Journal when I went back to school as an adult. The book inspired me to change and grow. Thank you Dorothy Bryant. You have left a beautiful legacy.

"Confessions of Madame Psyche" is one of my all-time favorite books. I will honor Dorothy by doing exactly what is suggested -- continuing to buy books from brick-and-mortar bookstores.

My sincere condolences for your loss. No doubt that she will be missed by many. May the love and support from relatives and friends be a source of comfort during this time. Doing so will be in harmony with the Bible's message found at 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
