Billie David Scott
Billie David Scott, 89, passed away on June 11, 2013 due to complications of diabetes. Predeceased by his wife Una Mae Scott in November 2011, and his son Richard in January 2005. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Hank Perkins of Rancho Cucamonga, son Rodger Scott of Rancho Cucamonga, daughter Karen Ross of Sacramento; and his beloved grandchildren Leslie Perkins of Ontario, and Matthew and Eri Perkins of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by his sister Nadine Rehm of Hurdland, Missouri, and by many, many nieces and nephews all over the country. Bill was born in Gibbs, Missouri on December 10, 1923, to Harlan and Mabel Scott, one of 9 children. Bill moved to California in 1947, and lived with various family members until he met and married Una Mae in March 1952. Bill enjoyed his life in Ontario and was active in Boy Scouts with his sons. He always had some project to work on in his garage from pinewood derby cars, slot car tracks, a two story fort along with a 'jungle gym' and a few large outdoor Christmas decorations made from plans found in the Popular Mechanics magazine. A welder for Kaiser Steel Fontana, Bill brought home his welding skills to make a tandem bicycle and a go-kart for the neighborhood kids to play with. With the closing of Kaiser in 1983 Bill used his handyman skills to help friends and neighbors with repair projects along with building steel side-yard gates. He was also the unofficial record keeper for the Scott family. He remembered everyone's birthday, anniversary, and history. Bill was very social, he loved to tell stories, was very friendly, a good provider for his family, and always willing to lend a hand and help others. We will miss his sense of humor and his common-sense approach to life. Services to be held at Draper Mortuary on Thursday June 27, 2013, at 1:00pm.
