Jerry Barnes, 67, died November 20, 2013 peacefully at Jerry L Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital. Born March 13, 1946 in Hempstead, New York, he was a resident of Yucaipa, CA. He was named after his two uncles, 18 year old twins, that perished on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor. Jerry was a Veteran, awarded the Bronze Star with the "V" for valor while serving his country in Vietnam. He enjoyed cycling, riding over 10,000 miles a year, several times, as a member of the Redlands Water Bottle Transit Company. He also loved fishing. Recently he had began riding another two wheel machine, his Harley Davidson motorcycle which he rode with the HOG (Harley Owners Group). He is survived by his sister, Patricia of Long Island, New York. Services will be held Wednesday, December 4th at Riverside National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.
There will be a casual gathering Tuesday evening Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate his life at Cyclery, USA, 415 Tennessee Street, Suite A in Redlands, light refreshments, coffee, diet Coke (Jerry's beverage of choice) will be served. Come out to listen, share and celebrate the life of one who has touched so many.
