Iona Mae Richardson

Iona Mae Richardson
Wife Mother Friend
Mickey Richardson of Placentia passed away February 10. She was 91.
She is survived by her son Charlie and daughter Chris, grandchildren Ian, Jeremy and Kelly, and great grand- daughters Easton and Madeleine.
She was born Iona Mae on March 26, 1922 to William A Breece and Carmen Lehrer-Breece in Wetmore, Colorado where the family owned a general store. After Young Iona struggled with a nasty bout of Rheumatic Fever, the family moved to Los Angeles. She graduated from Garfield High in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Charles "Bud" Richardson on October 18, 1940. She loved recounting stories of a model a ford they had and how much she loved going for drives. When Bud enlisted for WWII, she put that love of driving to work by making rubber gas tanks and transporting items for the factory because she knew the city so well. She also loved going to the USO dances with her sister-in-law, Ethel.
Post war, the family grew and moved to Whittier where they attended1st Baptist Church Montebello and later Pico First Baptist. Mickey was a Sunday School teacher, deaconess and helped with scout troops and school events. When she wasn't volunteering, she enjoyed Cross stitch and crochet and later did some quilting. She and Bud were able to travel to Europe, Hawaii and the Holy Land. She loved to sing and had a true Servant's heart.
The family is deeply appreciative of the love and care Mickey received at Family Choices of Anaheim. Her quiet but tenacious spirit will be missed.
