Wilfred Campeau Obituary

FEBRUARY 9, 1921 - NOVEMBER 22, 2010 It is with great sadness to announce the death of Wilfred "Bill" J. Campeau. Bill passed away peacefully due to complications from pneumonia on November 22, 2010. He put up a good fight until there was no fight left. Bill was the sixth and youngest child of Exonophile and Marie Anne Campeau born in Charlotte, Vermont. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was a radar technician on the USS Auburn in the Pacific. While in the Navy he met Judy Ehnert and in June 1946 they married. They bought their first home in Manhattan Beach and started a family. In 1956 he moved his family to Tarzana, and in 1959 he opened his own plumbing company, Bill Campeau Plumbing; that he operated until he was 78 years old. Bill loved the life he carved out. He enjoyed volunteering at Tarzana Hospital, ushering Mass, playing bridge, spending time with his family, and walking his dog, Sabrina. He made wonderful friends in his neighborhood, the hospital, and at church. Bill is survived by his two daughters Mary Anne Campeau (Caspar de Jong) and Janet Schiveley; his sister, Rose Masse; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Ernie), Gregory, and Daryn; and caring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy (1999); his brothers, Lionel, Ed and Joe; and his sister, Annette. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5001 White Oak Avenue, Encino. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you donate to your favorite charity. Assisting the family with the arrangements is BASTIAN & PERROTT OSWALD MORTUARY CHAPEL (818) 886-8600 FD#-1198

Grandpa, my sweet angel, I think about you and smile every day :) You were one of my closest friends, and I miss you dearly. I will forever cherish our time together: lunches at Millies and Carrows; playing poker; playing chess; walking the dog around the block; running errands; Christmas shopping; visiting you for lunch on the days you volunteered so you could "brag" about me; and my favorite, the countless hours we spent laughing and talking. I love and appreciate you more than you'll ever know.
Love,
Jenn
