Mr. Norrington allowed me to feel comfortable about math and always had a positive to say and inspire me. A gem of a teacher and human being that will always be remembered.

I never had Mr. Norrington for math at San Pedro High, but I had friends who did and told me they enjoyed his classes. One of the best ways to tell about a person is by their kids and his daughter Gael is a fine person and a credit to her Dad.

Bill was a true gentleman and a great Chapter shipmeate. He and I gave a talk at a Huntington Beach Jr. high class, but I didn't realize how out classed I was to Bill. He truly was a Silent Service shipmate. He will be sorely missed.

Bill, thank you for being the best father-in-law ever. I remember the backpacking trips we took up out of Lake Sabrina. I appreciated hearing the tales of the side-hilled Guallops and the Water Ozles on our camping trips and I will always remember you returning back to camp with your creel full of trout (and in particular that one golden trout). Thank you for all your help to our family over the years. Thank you for your service during the wars. Thank you for all the good you did as a high school teacher. Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor. You will be missed. Don

Uncle Bill was always a favorite of mine. His humor was his trademark and he was always pleased if he could "put one over on you". I remember the candy can with the "worm" in it very well as well as a bumper sticker that he put on our car the day of my wedding. I took it off and before I knew it another one had reappeared! He loved life and therefore, everyone loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him. I, for one, have many wonderful memories even though we always lived many, many miles apart.
Caught a big one!

Aloha, Cousin Bill. You were the penultimate living member of our generation of the Norrington/French/Wilson clan. There were only eight of us, mostly a hardy long-lived group. It's been years since we last met; my memories are of watching you play soccer (with the Magyars?) about 75 years ago and, as a seventh grader, wondering how a person could get a university degree looking at stars. I salute the accomplishments of your Naval career and your decision to teach in the public schools during 'retirement'. My deepest sympathies are with your family.

About Grandpa
Captain Norrington is to me legendary. He fought in the greatest war the world has ever known, and helped the allied side to victory, making the world safe from fascism and a military threat that is studied in universities around the world. His brave leadership and dedication were invaluable assets to our side, and he rightly was promoted through the ranks.
I remember looking at the pictures on the wall of all the submarines and ships he served on, and wondering what he was most proud of.
Grandpa was a sailor, and a fine one at that. He spent a lot of time out there, on the sea, with a lot of brave men, and our country owes them a debt of gratitude for their time and their sweat.
So Captain, thank you. Thank you for all that you did, thank you for raising three wonderful children and always being there for all of us through the years. Thank you for having your door open to me, for putting on the big parties at Christmas, for letting me drive your car.
Thank you for coming with me when I first went to my aircraft carrier (and showing me how to get there). Thanks for digging out maps countless times and showing me how to navigate.
Captain, we miss you. You were a kind, decent man, upright and strong, inquisitive and caring. Words alone cannot convey our loss at your departure from this life.
Fair sailing, captain. May the winds be at your back.
Our lives were made better by your presence . Thank you.
David.

Captain Bill:
You were the epitome of what a friend and shipmate should be.Intelligent, warm hearted, helpful without being asked to do so--and a great Naval Officer who was respected and beloved by his crew members.
All U.S. SUBVET members in the L.A. Chapter & LA/PAS Base are saddened by your demise but we all look forward to being part of the crew when we meet again. May God be waiting on the pier in Heaven when you report for duty. Sail in Peace, Shipmate
