I met Ken when I was restoring my TR3. He had more knowledge than anyone about that type of car. He was so kind and helpful. I think of him frequently and I am sad to hear of his passing. GodSpeed, Ken. You'll have the fastest TR in Heaven, my friend.

My deepest sympathies to Helen and all of Ken's family. Ken was such a help to my father and I when I bought my Triumph 25 years ago; we learned so much from him. The Triumph community has lost a beautiful treasure.

I remember Ken from my days at the BAP/Geon store in Temple City. A font of knowledge about Triumph sports cars, always willing to help me with mine. Owned the fasted drag racing TR2 in the world! I'm still running the engine he and a friend helped me build. You will be missed, Mr. Mayor.

Heard the sad news of Ken's passing. He was a friend, mentor and the go to TR guru!!! We were honored to have worked with him many years ago on our 57 TR3. Our condolences to his family.

My prayers and thoughts are with Helen and family. I spent many a happy time at Ken & Helen's for Triumph 'tech sessions'. He was a very caring and giving person, and will be greatly missed by all in the TR family.

Oh, Damn, I just heard. Ken has always been one of my favorite people, going back to the days he shopped at my parts store in Temple City in the 1970s. He just loved to show off his special stuff in the garage and talk about his "baby," the TR2. Going to miss you, old friend. Bill Morgan

Ken Gillanders, a wonderful man and friend of Carroll Shelby, was the source of the one-off run of wheels Carroll did specifically for the TR6. Carroll ended up selling all of the run to Ken at BFE.Ken sent a order of the wheels to England and spread some to racers stateside. England then called back with the order "send all you have". By the time I found Ken he had thirteen 7" wheels left and I said "I'll take them all." Ken, the nice guy he was said "You know you don't have to take all of them if you don't want to." To give you an idea how long ago this was I told Ken, "I'll get a check in the mail today but please hold them." Ken's now infamous reply which I have retold numerous times was "Oh don't worry, I'll ship them out today. In all the years I've been in business I've never been burnt. Just put a check in the mail." That really was a different time and Ken, a different man. Every part in my motor today (with 60k hard miles) was sourced through Ken.RIP Ken, you take with you a piece of TRiumph TR6 history.

I never met, Ken, but there are many tributes to him on FOT (friends of Triumph). I am sure he was an exceptional individual, and a man of the Lord. May he rest in peace, and my condolences to the family.

So sad to hear about Ken. Met him many moons ago and always a treat to run into him at Triumph events. So long old friend!
