Dr. Bertram Perry Husband

HUSBAND- Dr. Bertram Perry Husband, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 17, 2011, in San Diego, California. He was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan, Canada on July 28, 1917, older son of Walter and Verna Husband. Dr. Husband completed his high school education in Saskatchewan, and then studied for the ministry at Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee. He returned to Canada to do some preaching in Saskatchewan as well as becoming principal of a one room high school in Oungre, Saskatchewan. Pursuing a dream to study medicine and become a physician, he completed his pre-medical education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. There, while working part time as the youth minister of the Church of Christ, he met Ruth Eatough, his future wife. Dr. Husband graduated from the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons in Los Angeles in 1949. He began his private practice in Whittier, California in 1952 as a physician and surgeon and later became a partner in the Friendly Hills Medical Group in La Habra, California. He practiced medicine there until he was 77 years old. He then retired and moved to Murrieta, California. He later moved to Rancho Bernardo, California. His faith was the center of Dr. Husband's life, and he served as an elder at the Painter Avenue Church of Christ in Whittier for many years. Breeding and raising Arabian horses was also a very important part of Dr. Husband's life. He bred and raised Khemosabi, the leading sire of the USA and the world in total number of Arabian foals and a legend in his own right. Dr. Husband represented the United States at the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO) meetings throughout the world for twenty-two years and was known in Arabian horse circles as an honorable and honest man. Dr. Husband is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth of Rancho Bernardo, CA, his sons, Paul Husband (Evelyn) of Burbank, CA, Dr. Richard Husband (Carolyn) of Temecula, CA, and Dr. Robert Husband (Marcia) of Poway, CA. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Murrieta Church of Christ, 24750 Lincoln Avenue in Murrieta, CA at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26. Officiating will be Bruce Rokus, minister of the Painter Avenue Church of Christ in Whittier, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Murrieta Church of Christ, 24750 Lincoln Avenue, Murrieta, CA 92562.
