PASTOR GIL

Died on November 3, 2013 of natural causes at the age of 86. Born on July 16, 1927, Pastor was born in Tunja, State of Boyaca, Colombia, S.A. Immigrated to United States in 1948 to study engineering at Oklahoma University. He met his wife, Luisa Melendez, at the University, were married in Norman, Oklahoma in 1950 and moved to Los Angeles
shortly after.

He worked in manufacturing and management, and retired in 1990. During his working years, he volunteered with the Camp Fire Girls, and in his retirement, enjoyed many happy years volunteering with his local church, St. Denis in Diamond Bar.

Pastor is preceded in death by his father Aparicio Gil and mother Elisa Morales, his brothers Gustavo and Jose Maria, and his granddaughter Vanessa Caudill. He is survived by his wife Luisa, his five children Gustavo and wife Carol, Susana and husband Tony, Ginny and husband Fred, Sylvia and husband Ramiro, Loli and husband John, his three sisters Tulia, Maria Antonia and Maria Victoria, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation and viewing will be held at the Queen of Heaven Mortuary in Rowland Heights on Thursday, November 7 from 4-8pm, with a rosary held from 6:30-7:00pm. Funeral mass will be said at St. Denis Church in Diamond Bar on Friday, November 8 at 9am. Private services will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
