Alfonso Lozano Obituary

Alfonso Hisidro Lozano Alfonso Hisidro Lozano was born May 11, 1941 and passed away September 26, 2010 at the age of 69. His parents were Sosimo and Manuela Lozano. He was one of four children with brothers Augustine "Shadow" Magdaleno, Louie Lozano (deceased), and David Lozano. Alfonso was a life long Wilmington resident. During his childhood years he attended Holy Family Elementary School, where he served as an alter boy and also where he met his lifelong friend Richard Sison. Later Alfonso attended St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, where he lettered in track and field. Alfonso was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War, (Army Infantry Big Red1). He was one of the original "Seko Brothers" from East Wilmington, a group of friends who enjoyed each others company while working at the local neighborhood market. He was a retired longshoreman working in both Local 13 and 63 also known as "Big Al" on the waterfront, work #35391. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Lozano and together they had four children John Lozano (deceased), Anthony (Monica) Lozano, Lisa (Joe) Hernandez, and Daniel Lozano; and grandchildren, Joseph Hernandez, Victoria Hernandez, Mya Hernandez, Stephanie Lozano, Anthony Lozano, Jr. and soon to arrive Baby Lozano. Alfonso and Margaret enjoyed a life of happiness and joy. He was the rock of the Lozano family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten for his love, care, and generosity to us all. He will now rest in peace. Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel McNerney's Mortuary, Wilmington, Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m., with a mass service October 4, 2010 10:00 a.m., at St. Peter & Paul Church, Wilmington, and burial service to follow at All Souls Cemetery, Long Beach, CA.

Margaret and Family,

Sorry to read this......I remember Alphonso way back from Seko Bros. on The Eastside back from the early 60's. I'd wondered what happened to him down thru the decades....he was always cool to us kids back then. That's what I remember........

To The Lozano Family: Although you personally don't know me, please accept my condolences surround Al's passing. I remembered him all these decades......it's somewhat of a testament of his character. God Bless.
