Alvin Baker Obituary

BAKER-Alvin Baker, 87, of Whittier, California, died September 15, 2010, at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Care Facility. Born November 8, 1922, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth C. (Shepherd) Baker and the husband of the late Eunice "Dolly" (Diggins) Baker. Mr. Baker was a postal carrier and formerly worked for G.C. Murphy's and the Union Railroad. He also served during WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Leroy) Linnborn of San Antonio, TX; grandson, Scott (Michelle) of Round Rock, TX; brother, Thomas (Helen) Baker of Jefferson Hills; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Baker of North Versailles; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Harding and Loretta (John) Pomycala, and brother, Wesley Baker. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Willig Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jody Dausey officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
