Angela Paula Stella
October 29, 1926 -
January 15, 2014
Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend peacefully went to be with the Lord after a long and heroic fight with cancer. An active resident of Arcadia CA for 59 years, she grew up in Chicago where she attended Manley HS. She loved school and baseball and was even asked to try out for the All-Girls Professional Baseball League. In 1944 she met the love of her life, Art, to whom she was married for 54 years. She and Art moved to New Buffalo MI after WWII with Art's family, and then moved to Southern CA in 1954. They led a wonderful life in Arcadia and made many life-long friends through their involvement with the Kiwanis, the Sons of Italy, and the Holy Angels parish. She remained active after Art's passing in 2002 with her poker and bunco girlfriends and activities with the Sierra Madre Senior Center. Her wit, indomitable spirit, and love and care of family and friends were inspirational to those who loved her.
She is survived by her sons Philip and Arthur, their wives Christyne and Susan, and her grandchildren Amy, Lindsay, Matthew, Beth and Katie.
A viewing (4pm) and Rosary (7pm) will be held at Douglass & Zook Mortuary in Monrovia CA on January 28th. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia at 10am January 29th followed by internment at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any memorial gift be made payable to the City of Hope, Attn: Janet Morgan, 1055 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017 with notation that it is for the Angela Stella Memorial Fund.
