Bernie Goldman

Obituary Condolences

Left this world for the next on October 14, 2010, in Woodland Hills, and was lain to rest in the Garden of Valor, Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village. Bernie was a supremely devoted, loving, gentle and kind husband to Irene Goldman since November, 1952; father to Mark Goldman, Woodland Hills, Karen Apodaca, Eagle, Idaho, Kimberlee Hinman, Denver, Colorado, and Robin Goldman, San Francisco; grandfather to Morgan Hinman, US Navy, Lemoore, California, and Mitchell Hinman, graduate Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, Denver, Colorado; half brother to Fred Goldman, Scottsdale, Arizona; and cousin to Elaine Segalove, Beverly Hills. Born Bernard Jules Goldman on September 8, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, to Samuel and Anna Goldman, and grandson to Ben Zion Gold and Celia Sarah Gold, Bernie left Chicago and relocated his family to California in 1964, replacing snow days with beach days. Here, he successfully launched an entrepreneurship, BeeGee Enterprises Food Brokerage in Woodland Hills. Bernie was a patriot. Prior to his marriage, he served in the US Army during the Korean War, ultimately performing duty as an MP for one year in Japan. He remained close to Chicago and US Army friends Lowell Berman and Sandy Ettinger until his passing. He actively supported all US troops throughout peacetime and war, adopting a platoon during the Iraq war. Daily and without fail, he raised the flag at home and proudly wore a flag emblem. Son, grandson, husband, Dap, Grampie, Bernie, Beryl, or Mr. Goldman - all names for the same person: the greatest man one could hope to know. He will be in our thoughts daily and loved deeply until we are reunited with him again.
