Betty Meikle Obituary

MEIKLE-Betty Hiatt Meikle, passed away December 16, 2010 in her home in Pasadena. Betty was born October 23, 1923 in Woodland Ca. and grew up in Zamora, Ca. She married Jay Meikle of Woodland in June of 1946. and they lived in Hawaii for 10 years where her son Eric and daughter Chris were born. They moved back to northern California where they lived in Martinez and Concord until 1998, when she moved to Pasadena. Betty was an expert in transcribing Braille, and taught classes as well as transcribed textbooks for blind students in Contra Costa County for many years. Betty was interested WWII airplanes, bird watching, & history. She was terrific at trivia games due to her eclectic reading habits and curiosity about anything new. Predeceased by her husband Jay, Betty leaves son Eric, daughter Chris (Art) Bogad, grandchildren Aaron (Melissa) Bogad, Morgan Bogad, great-grandson Zachary Bogad, as well as Mary Meikle, Shoshana (Jason) Signer-Alden, Devorah (Jerry) Signer-Hill, Nat and Noa. According to her wishes, no services were held, and Betty will be buried in Mary's Cemetery in Yolo County near her childhood home.
