Margaret Ruth Fleming - 85
Born March 21, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Margaret Fleming passed away on July 21, 2012, nine days following her husband's (George William Fleming) passing on July 12. Shortly after her birth, Margaret and her family moved to an oil lease near Coffeyville, Kansas. Striking out on her own, Margaret moved to California in 1943 to study operatic singing. She supported herself by working as a "runway model" for Mary Webb Davis Agency in Hollywood, and modeling for several years at Bullock's Pasadena and Wilshire. Margaret met her late husband, Bill Fleming, in 1950, and they were married in 1952. Margaret worked for several designers of haute couture, including her longest stint with William Pearson, Inc. where she transitioned from modeling to fashion marketing and managed the designer's runway shows in Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York. She made a career change in 1970 to commercial marketing and made a name for herself as Marketing Director for Hahn Corporation's Montclair Plaza, Puente Hills Mall, and the Century City Shopping Plaza. She later became Marketing Manager for McGuire Thomas Partners in Los Angeles during the company's expansion in Los Angeles and construction and opening of the Library Tower, now U.S. Bank Tower.

During Bill and Margaret's retirement years, they lived in Palm Desert, Groveland and Pasadena California. Surviving are their daughter, Lizanne Fleming, of Los Angeles; daughter Sherry Gartley, and her husband William, of Corona; two grandchildren, Michael Gartley and Michelle Hardman; and three great-grandchildren, Devon Gory, James Gartley, and Christian Gartley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at the family's request to Children's Institute, Inc., Los Angeles, www.childrensinstitute.org
